Aldeno

Fine wines, rustic tradition and genuine relationships

A little to the south of the Trentino capital, on the right bank of the Adige River, the village of Aldeno lies in a rural landscape of vineyards and orchards on the eastern slopes of Monte Bondone and is recognisable by the tall bell tower of the Church of San Modesto. In the historic core of the village, the civic tower is still visible, the only surviving element of the ancient church of San Zeno (16th-17th century) demolished in the 18th century.

The rich soil favours the production of excellent fruit and vegetables and fine wines, enhanced by the historic 'Mostra dei Merlot d'Italia' (national event that valorises Merlot wine) and the summer event on the night of San Lorenzo 'Calici di stelle' (event with wine tastings under the stars). The wood and iron craftsmanship is also flourishing, facilitated in the past by the factories and mills located along the Arione stream, which today, as it flows through the town, runs alongside a long tree-lined avenue and a park with centuries-old trees, a sports centre and two small lakes for sports fishing.

The Via Claudia Augusta passed through Aldeno and since the Middle Ages for no less than 900 years the village has been part - like the municipality of Cimone - of the 'Comun Comunale', an ancient institution that united the municipalities of the right bank of the Adige River in Vallagarina in the management of the territory, today commemorated by an event hosted in turn by one of the seven municipalities.

Highlights of Aldeno

The care for the landscape finds expression in the large green spaces and the production of exclusive wines: a visit to the village of Aldeno can be an experience in the green surroundings of the park 'Parco delle Albere' or a visit to the village wine cellars.
