Seven centuries of art combine in this fascinating building of medieval origin expanded in the seventeenth century and further enriched inside with pictorial works in the following centuries.
An artistic journey spanning almost seven hundred years. This is the route you find yourself taking when visiting this evocative church inside a complex that also includes the convent of the Augustinians. Built in 1273 in the Romanesque style, the building was expanded in the 17th century as evidenced by the Renaissance-style portico. The valuable altarpiece of the Holy Family, attributed by some critics to the artist Pietro Ricci, dates back to the same time, while the large crucifix that stands on the presbytery was made in the 1800s. Finally, in the apse, you can admire a fresco by Antonio Fasal dated 1937 that depicts, among other characters, Cardinal Gerolamo Seripando, Bishop of Salerno.
