Torre Civica

The specific characteristics of the climb require a contingent access of the public, who can visit the building only with a guided tour, lasting one hour, on the pre-established days. The seats available for each visit are limited to a maximum of ten participants. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office of the Tridentine Diocesan Museum or online. The ticket for the visit to the Tower cannot be sold separately from the ticket for the entrance to the Museum.

Overlooking the beautiful Piazza Duomo, with its 45 meters high, it is the unmistakable symbol of the city.

The Torre di Piazza, or Civic Tower, was erected before the second half of the 12th century on the remains of Porta Veronensis, an ancient monumental entrance to the Roman Tridentum, and in close connection with the Bishop's Palace.

In addition to being a defensive bulwark, it was used for administrative purposes and, from the beginning of the fourteenth century until the end of the nineteenth century, for prisons: over the centuries, debt prisons and women's prisons were distinguished more precisely.

In 2015, due to a fire, the interior of the tower was severely damaged; six years of restoration followed and, in the summer of 2022, the Tower was permanently reopened to the public, finally making the monument continuously accessible. You can visit eight of the twelve levels that make it up to the top and enjoy a breathtaking view of the city from above.
