Also known as the "Cathedral of Trent", this imposing religious building hosted the sessions of the Council of Trent in the 16th century
In the heart of Piazza Duomo is the majestic Duomo of Trento, named after San Vigilio, in fact it is also called the "Cathedral of San Vigilio", the patron saint of the city. Built between the 12th and 13th centuries in the Romanesque style, it preserves precious medieval frescoes, Renaissance chapels and the evocative crypt with the relics of the Saint.
The Cathedral is known throughout the world for having hosted the Council of Trent (1545-1563), one of the most important events in the history of the Church. Even today it is the religious and symbolic heart of the city, as well as an unmissable stop for those who visit Trento.
