Giro al Sas - Gara internazionale

The "Giro del Sas" will take place on Saturday 4 October 2025. Ten spectacular kilometres of the most picturesque streets in the historic centre of Trento. History, tradition and a prestigious gold medal.

The Giro al Sas is a 10 km race that takes place in the most picturesque streets of the historic centre of Trento, designed in 1907 to honour the city's patron saint, San Vigilio. The race, which was interrupted during the war, has continued steadily since 1945. This important international event, which will celebrate its 78th edition on Saturday 4 October 2025, was won by some of the world's greatest long-distance athletes, including the Italian Stefano Baldini, as well as internationally renowned foreign athletes, such as Paul Tergat, Kenenisa Bekele, Muktar Edris and Jacob Kiplimo.

It is an ancient and fascinating running race that runs on a one-kilometre circuit. After the First World War, the race was called "Giro al Sas", because the chosen route is that of the "stracittadino" ring of the Paseo dei Trentini known by that name and included between Via Roma, Via Oss Mazzurana, Via Mantova and Via San Pietro. A highly spectacular ring to be traveled several times for all the fans who follow the event live every year.

The Giro al Sas has resumed its historic name thanks to the acquisition of the prestigious brand by the Bank for Trentino Alto Adige.

In the early afternoon, the protagonists are the youngest. It will start with the races valid for the CSI provincial youth championships, and then start the magic of the Giro al Sas Kids, a non-competitive promotional event for children from 2 to 8 years old in order to entice them to practice sports. In the grand final evening with the Giro al Sas of the champions, the spectacular international race in which the best world specialists in athletics have been competing for 77 years.

DIRECTIONS

Lrento can be easily reached by car from Verona by taking the Brennero-Modena A22 motorway in the north direction, from Bolzano by taking it in the south direction or from the east (Treviso, Venice, Padua) by taking the Valsugana SS47 state road in the west direction.

By public transport you can reach Trento by train, the city is located at the junction between the railway line that leads from the Brenner Pass to Verona and the Valsugana railway that connects Trento with Venice, for more information on timetables visit the Trenitalia website.

Within the province of Trento there is an intercity public transport service of which Trento is the nodal centre of the network, for information on the lines and timetables visited on the Trentino Trasporti website. 

PARKING

Directional signs will be placed from the main road arteries to reach the parking area "Piazzale Sanseverino – P07", which is located at the intersection of Via Verdi and Via R. da Sanseverino reserved for participants in the event, you will need to display the form downloadable from this page. To reach the car park from the three routes that lead to Trento follow the following directions:

  • from Verona exit at the "Trento Sud" exit and then continue following the signs for "Bolzano" until exit no. 4 "Muse" and at the roundabout take the third exit then after 50m turn right into via Roberto da Sanseverino and follow it for 2km at that point the parking lot is on the right.
  • from Bolzano exit the A22 motorway at "Trento Nord" and follow the signs for "Verona" until exit no. 6 "Zuffo" of the ring road that surrounds Trento, then cross the Adige river and at the roundabout turn right into Lungadige Giacomo Leopardi, after a second roundabout go straight into Lungadige Monte Grappa for 100m the parking lot is on the left.
  • from SS47 of Valsugana, stay on the main road until exit no. 6 "Zuffo" and then continue as if you were coming from Bolzano.
