On Thursday, March 28, 2024, the Trentino-Alto Adige Dance Circuit curated by the Centro Servizi Culturali S. Chiara returns to Trento's Teatro Sociale with a show featuring the Canadian choreographer Marie Chouinard, engaged with her creation entitled Le Sacre du Printemps, a ballet in an act based on a musical score by Igor Stravinskij. A Compagnie Marie Chouinard production in co-production with the National Arts Centre, the Festival international de nouvelle danse and the Kunstentrum Vooruit.

Among Marie Chouinard's works, Le Sacre du Printemps occupies a very special position. Choosing to re-explore this powerful hymn to life, the Canadian choreographer created her first choreography based on a musical score by Stravinsky.

Le Sacre du printemps (The Festival of Spring, in Italian) explores a new world and marks the entrance of dance into modernity. In this avant-garde work, Marie Chouinard once again finds an original impulse that is essential to her movement. Without contradicting the rhythm of her dance, the cadence and strength of the music inspire her, accompany her and give her strength, at the same time constituting the echo and musical counterpoint of an organic, vigorous and lively choreography.

Unlike previous choreographers who worked on Stravinsky's work, the Canadian artist, dancer and choreographer built his Primavera around solos, trying to awaken the intimate mystery of each dancer with strong and clear movements.

"There is no story in my Spring," explains Marie Chouinard, "there is no development, there is no cause and effect. Just synchronicity. It's like you're dealing with the moment after life first appeared. Performance is the unfolding of that moment. I have the feeling that before that moment there was an extraordinary explosion of light, a flash. "
