On Sunday 6 October 2024, a small mountain village recalls the knowledge and flavours of the past, Garniga Terme.

"Taste" is the food and wine event organized by "Proloco di Garniga Terme", in collaboration with the other voluntary associations in the country and the support of the Trento Tourism Company , Monte Bondone, which involves the whole country in a day dedicated to the enhancement and promotion of the Alpine territory and its products with stands and tastings, a photographic exhibition and workshops for adults and children.

The village terrace comes alive, accompanied by the sound of an old accordion and the aromas and flavours of a bygone era are relived: markets with typical local products, art and mountain crafts, which are explained to adults and children through the manual skills of the workshops, rediscovering together the production technique of malga cheese and pork pasta.

An exhibition of old agricultural tools and old photographs allows us to retrace the history and evolution of agricultural work of the mountain peasant civilization.

The cuisine offers traditional dishes where the potato, the fruit of this land, dominates a rich menu ranging from appetizers to desserts.

The cattle return to the village after the summer pasture and are welcomed by the village with a great party, music and dances: the Smalgada de Garniga is the highlight of this event dedicated to tradition.

For the little ones, family treasure hunts         

A beautiful playground with a pond awaits you to have fun without danger. Baby makeup, wooden toys, balloons, cheese and flavoured salt workshops..

When you arrive, sign up with mom and dad for the treasure hunt: you will receive a lottery ticket in return and, if you are lucky, you will receive a rich prize!

Autumn is approaching and with the first cold the herds - dairy cattle, heifers and calves return to the village in their own stables. The long period of the pasture, spent at high altitude on the slopes of Monte Bondone, in Malga Albi, among pastures rich in aromatic herbs and flowers, is over: the herd of the Orlando and Moreno Dallapiazza farm returns to the barn and we are ready to welcome and greet them.

For the little ones: if you want to participate too, you are welcome! Come dressed as a shepherd or peasant girl, we are waiting for you and together we will accompany the herd to the stable!

A small market of wooden houses, with companies from different realities, is the setting for the event with typical local products for sale and tasting. Wines, spirits, cheeses, honey producers, cured meats and sausages, preserves, organic products...

The market is a meeting point dedicated to quality traditional products, a corner of history and food and wine culture that local companies follow with experience and passion.

Exhibition of implements of mountain peasant civilisation

The theater of the Municipality hosts in a beautiful exhibition a collection of work tools and tools typical of mountain agriculture and domestic life: the objects once used by the farmer for the cultivation of the fields and hay, by the woodcutter and carpenter for cutting wood for heating and to furnish the peasant house.

Alongside the tools, there is also an important collection of old photographs that lead back to the past, to the many efforts of man, to family, to happy moments: memories that remain forever indelible in these shots.
