Altopiano di Piné

The Piné Plateau is remembered for the beauty of its picturesque lakes, ideal for summer walks and sunbathing; for the possibility of discovering local history, culture and spirituality, through itineraries that touch ancient villages, churches and sanctuaries.

The Plateau is a destination for every season.

Spring is perfect for relaxing walks along the lakes and admiring the awakening of nature. A wide variety of plants, flowers and wild herbs are the realm of bees; while lakes, streams, forests and meadows are home to aquatic animals, birds, and domesticated animals such as sheep and goats that feed themselves while waiting to ascend to the high pastures. There is no shortage of horses, with which it is easy to ride and explore the plateau in wide, exciting strides.

Summer bursts with life and proposals, with its countless events, sports and cultural activities and the freshness of its Alpine lakes, which for years have boasted countless Blue Flag beaches, an international eco-label awarded for water quality and the promotion of lake enhancement activities. For the more sporty, there is a wide choice: ice skating, archery, horse riding, mountain biking, but also trekking to the peaks of the Lagorai chain, to the famous Cascata del Lupo waterfall or walks among the alpine pastures.

In autumn, the forest turns into an artist's palette that fades from yellow to red; it is the perfect time to visit the countless cultural sites: The Sanctuary of Montagnaga is the main Marian shrine in Trentino and presides over the territory together with votive capitals and fractional churches that preserve precious altars and frescoes; climbing up in altitude, reaching the Redebus pass we find the Acqua Fredda archaeological area, testimony to the primitive activity of metalworking; surrounded by fields in the locality of Prada, the Moser Mill, the ancient mill of medieval origin, recently renovated, which produces Pineta flour, has resumed grinding. The transition from field to plate is quick and recommended: in the plateau's restaurants it is possible to taste traditional cuisine and 0 km products that reveal the strong and genuine flavours of the mountains.

In winter, the frozen lakes shimmer like precious stones and tell of the passion for ice skating practised at the Ice Rink Piné. The Ice Rink offers an indoor rink and a 400 m outdoor ring where the Italian national skating team and local champions Arianna and Pietro Sighel train, as well as hockey, figure skating and broomball. A point of reference for families is the Winter Park Pradis-ci, a snowy park where skiing, sledging and fun can be had, but also the traditional winter event of El Paes dei Presepi, which transforms the hamlet of Miola di Piné into the 'house of nativity scenes' where more than 1,000 handcrafted cribs are displayed among the houses in the historic centre.
