• from 1st January 2022 to 1st October 2024, from Monday to Sunday 6am-6pm
It is one of the oldest sacred buildings in the area, close to Mount Argentario
It is located in the hamlet of the same name in the municipality of Fornace, on the eastern side of Mount Argentario between the Valle di Cembra and the Valsugana, characterised by its wooded terraces and porphyry quarries.
It is one of the oldest churches in this area, founded between the 6th and 7th centuries. Originally dedicated to San Cipriano, in 1502 it underwent an extension, on the occasion of which it was named after San Stefano.
Archaeological excavations in the late 1980s and early 1990s have revealed some ancient tombs located inside the church. The frescoes in the apse basin from the 16th century and a mosaic from the 11th century are noteworthy.
STRENGTH
The pleasant location, close to the Argentario forest and the starting point for walks.
